What Vafer is — and is not
Vafer is a software tool: it enforces cookie-consent choices, keeps consent records, and displays cookie disclosures on Shopify stores. It is not legal advice, and using it does not by itself make your store compliant with GDPR, CCPA or any other law. Your legal obligations, policies and disclosures remain yours. We say this on the website, in the app, and here, because it is true.
Honest limits
No consent tool blocks all tracking. Vafer blocks known trackers plus anything you tag with its convention; scripts hard-coded into a theme run before any consent app can act, and unknown trackers from unrecognised domains pass through until added. These limits are documented in the app's Diagnostics screen. You are responsible for reviewing your own store's setup with the tools we provide.
Early access
Vafer is currently free. During early access we may change features, impose fair-use limits, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
Your responsibilities
Keep your cookie declaration accurate, review your consent rules, and don't use Vafer to mislead your visitors — a consent tool configured to dark-pattern people breaks these terms.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: Vafer is provided "as is"; we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including regulatory fines arising from your store's compliance posture; and our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100.
Ending things
Uninstall any time. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service. On uninstall, data is handled as described in the privacy policy and Shopify's mandatory redaction flows.
